Wonderful and unique vase in so-called Sgraffito technique which involves directly scratching and colouring on the clay. The end result is by definition unique. The vase was made, stamped and dated (1963). It is a special vase as it has a depiction of two scenes, a bird and a stylised female with a blue veil. The background has a rough structure making the glazed colours stand out. Marian Zawadsky, (1912 - 1978) came in 1953 from Poland to Gothenburg, Sweden where he was an art teacher. He worked until 1970 as artistic director and as decorator at Tilgmans Keramik, a leading Swedish ceramic producer. Marian received worldwide acknowledgement for his experiments with the use of Sgraffito techniques. Pick-up is recommended, though when shipped we try to do that as safe as possible.
