The Fiat Zero is a car produced by Turin carmaker FIAT from 1912 to 1915. It was the first small car to be built in series. In 1915, the electrical system was also installed, but production ceased due to the transformation of FIAT into a war factory following Italy’s entry into the war in the First World War.
The Zero was equipped with a 1.9 litre engine that developed about 15 hp and could reach 70 km/h. The car travelled about 5.1 km per litre.
The Zero was the first Fiat car to be sold in more than 2,000 units.
The Zero was also an important model for the history of Pininfarina; its founder, not yet an entrepreneur but a simple designer, prepared a drawing of the car’s radiator and his project was chosen in contrast to that prepared by Fiat’s own technicians.

This Fiat Zero from 1913 has an amazing history, as many of this veterans.
It was found in the Turin area in 1964 by Domenico Bossotto, an elderly mechanic who knew the owner, because he had often assisted him in repairs. Domenico Bossotto knew those cars very well, drove and adjusted many of them during his military service during WWI.
It was he who restored the car in two years, completely arranging the mechanics starting from the chassis and reviewing it in every detail, even the engine.
The he restored the bodywork, restored the original cal colour.
Unfortunately, Bassotto didn’t have the joy of driving the car, nor of hearing the sound of its engine, as he suffered from a sudden illness before finishing the car.

His widow sold the Zero and for fifty years there was no news about the car.
In 2004, the car was found by a famous collector in Biella. After a short service and general check, the engine ran perfectly from the very beginning.
Referring to the number of km driven, we can think that the car hasn’t even completed its break-in.
