Alsatian renaissance armoire dated 1707 Beautiful work of the traditional Alsatian armoire model with seven-column, which reflects all the criteria of the Strasbourg workshops. The front is decorated with geometric motifs inlaid with local wood, the seven ringed columns are made of ash wood. The carved motifs, angel heads, grotesques, lion muzzles, shells, bouquets of wild flowers and draperies are made of contrasting wood, the style of which is drawn from the Strasbourg and Alsatian ornamental repertoire of the 17th century. The wood species used are maple, walnut and burr walnut, ash, oak, sorb, linden, and fir for the frame. The hinges of the doors are made of wrought iron, tinned and decorated with foliage and scrolls, the lock also has a finely engraved plate, beautiful ironwork in a remarkable preserved condition. This beautiful wardrobe opens with two doors and a drawer, design and dimensions follow the principles enacted by the corporations of the time: base with a drawer in which the two halves of the central body assembled together by large keys fit, the crowning comes to top it all.
