Beautiful large Victorian rocking horse, this horse is unique in its kind and is not often offered. I am selling it because my collection is too large and I have a lack of space. This horse is made by hand and the saddle plus the bridle is of real leather and the manes and tail are of real horsehair. Here and there the horse has a few shrinkage cracks due to old age, but those make this lot just so special. This was ever a true dream toy for many boys and girls and this rocking horse also has an interesting history. Children who were born into a noble family were often appointed (destined) to serve in the Royal Court to honour the family. The master-at-arms used these horses that were mounted on swings to teach skills with sword and lance. Children from families of the upper classes had no playroom where this rocking horse was not present. The dimensions of the base: 160 cm long and 32 cm wide, withers height 75 cm and the total height is 97 cm. This horse is really an ornament for your home but also for the more luxurious stylist.
