Boris Bozeglav, born in 1930, is of Slovenian origin and trained at the Cherubini school in the years following the last war. From his land, so fertile and happy, so generous in its frequent reasons of inspiration, he hears the first voices that invite him to the art of colour. Colour will in fact be his passionate exaltation, the main reason for his research and painting. But it is not enough to be born a painter. And Bozeglav understands this, fortunately in time, to complete an internship marked by the most effective need. Many years are dedicated to technical experiences, to aesthetic debates. The study includes the figure, the landscape, the nature, the seascape. Then the time comes to choose among these manifestations of his soul – all difficult, all interesting, all harmonious – and Bozeglav finds in his soul a deeper desire to paint landscapes. The themes are both human and symbolic. Under the mantle of the sky, which represents the always open door of Creation, from which the air and the sun reach us, houses of men come together in the foreground and are jagged on the horizon. These are brick shells that contain their lives, where children grow up and old people pass away, where dialogues of love alternate with expressions of sadness or loss, anger or faith. And from houses to streets, from streets to squares, this humanity is shaken in its daily life, under the festoons of clothes in the sun, or the messy tufts of wisteria, or the flowering trees, or the colourful tents of the markets. Pozzuoli's reds, brownish yellows, green and ochre soils, cobalt and violet shades, of cinnabar or lacquer... A festive but not ridiculous palette, a motif in a vast spiral, with liveliness and temperament, but emotionally restrained. The pale light blues or pinkish flaps of the background unleash your imagination and make you dream, orchestrating harmonies, drawing eternal plays of shapes. Everything is always focused on concrete details of reality, outside of any vague dialogue, with creations that represents an array of evocative and sentimental elements.
