Beautiful old painting by Antoon Vorstermans (1902-1987). Born in Tilburg. He died in Bakel. He lived and worked In Tilburg, but from 1937 in Helmond. His full name was Antonius Leonardus (Toon) Vorstermans. He is mentioned in the Lexicon for Visual Artists Pieter Scheen. Works by him can be found in the Rijkscollectie. Officially, his name is Vorstermans, but he often signed with Vostermans regularly, so without the first r. He was self-taught, often in nature, where he found the strength and inspiration for his life, work, and painting. He mostly painted the landscape of the Peel, but also portraits and still lifes. This painting is about 50x70cm, with frame approximately 87x68x5cm. VERY UNUSUAL that this painting is signed twice bottom right! Painting has signs of wear and old age and would benefit from a proper cleaning/restoration; I don’t have any expertise in these matters so I just left it as it is. In my eyes, the painting is beautiful in the current condition! The painting is in a heavy wooden frame (list has several spots of damage).
